Drogheda on the Boyne comes alive with RTE Local Heroes Project

It has been a very exciting few months in Drogheda with the recording of the RTE TV series Local Heores: A Town Fights Back Drogheda and we at the d hotel Drogheda have been delighted to be a part of the proccess and to volunter our time and energy.
Rory Scott our General Manager has being Chairman of the Tourism Volunteers whilst Laura O'Donovan our Business Development Manager has been looking after the community element of the programme.

Last week we were delighted to assist in a presentation made by Global Brand & Tourism Expert Noel Toolan which culmianted in the launch of the fabulous new Drogheda on the Boyne brand, which you can see below:

To a great crowd in the TLT theatre the new Drogheda on the Boyne Visitors guide was also launched, the cover can be seen below:
An online version of the new visitors guide can be found online at www.drogheda.ie and will also be available from the d hotel Drogheda as well as other hotels and attractions and tourist offices across the country.

The weekend then culminated in the first annual Boyneside Samhain festival which was also filmed by RTE for Local Heroes Drogheda. Huge crowds of families from the local community came out to celebrate on the day and a great selection of photos from the day can be found at the RTE Local Heroes Facebook Page.
Highlights of all the activities that have taken place over the the last few weeks and the plans for the future can be seen when the TV show starts on RTE from Wednesday 9th of November. Enjoy the show.

RTE Local Heroes: A Town Fights Back

The d hotel was delighted to attend the launch of RTE Local Heroes: A Town Fights Back in the Barbican, Drogheda last night. The series been produced by Animo TV also has the strap line "working together for jobs" and it was great to see the huge amount of positivity and drive for change from all the Droghedians present last night.

The series will be hosted by Senator Feargal Quinn who has done such a fabulous job with his previous Retail show, Feargal will be joined by a host of expert mentors including Gary Joyce, Jerry Kennelly, Pat Savage, Robert Mac Giolla Padraig and Noel Toolan @noeltoolan .

Already there were some great ideas to drive tourism and create employment last night including cycle routes to #newgrange, cruise boats going down the River Boyne, selling tickets to Newgrange in the Drogheda Tourism Office. We look forward to attending the ideas seminar next Tuesday and to the development of these ideas going forward.
